Backup and Restore Windows with Acronis True Image

Reinstalling Windows is often time-consuming. Acronis True Image in NHV BOOT offers the optimal solution for data backup and recovery. Considered more stable than Norton Ghost and fully supporting both UEFI and Legacy standards, it is an essential tool for technicians. In this guide, NHV Boot will show you exactly how to use Acronis True Image to comprehensively protect and secure your computer system

1. Backup Windows using Acronis True Image

Boot into WinPE. On the Desktop, find and double-click the Acronis True Image icon to launch the software, or access it via the PStart menu

Acronis True Image in NHV BOOT is available on the Desktop or in the PStart menu
In the Home tab, under the Backup section, select My Disks
Select both EFI (FAT32) and Windows (NTFS) partitions, then click Next
Click Browse to select the backup destination
Enter a name for the backup file, select the storage folder, and click OK
Click Next to continue
Review the summary and click Proceed to execute the Windows backup process
Windows backup process completed successfully

2. Restore Windows with Acronis True Image

To restore Windows, the first step is to prepare the hard drive partitions. Open Partition Wizard on the Desktop to delete the old Windows partition or repartition the drive accordingly

Partition Wizard in NHV BOOT is available on the Desktop or in the PStart menu
Identify the old EFI (FAT32) and Windows (NTFS) partitions, then proceed to Delete them
Leave the partition space as Unallocated

After deleting or repartitioning the drive, launch Acronis True Image

In the Home tab, under the Recover section, select My Disks to begin the restoration process
Click Browse to locate the backup file you want to restore
Navigate to the folder containing your backup, select the .tib file, and click OK
Verify the selected backup file in the list and click Next to continue
Select Recover whole disks and partitions, then click Next
Check the box for Disk 1 to select all partitions (including Windows and EFI) as shown, then click Next

For UEFI Windows backups containing two partitions, you must assign a New location for each partition sequentially

Click New location to specify the destination for the EFI partition (FAT32)
Select the Unallocated partition (empty space), then click Accept
Click Next to continue
Click New location to select the destination for the Windows partition (NTFS)
Select the Unallocated partition
Click Next to continue
Confirm the target hard drive to restore Windows
Review the summary of operations, then click Proceed to execute the Windows restoration process
Recover operation succeeded. The Windows restoration process is complete

When the Recover operation succeeded message appears, the recovery is complete. Click OK, then restart your computer to boot into Windows
