How to Install Windows using WinNTSetup in UEFI Mode

WinNTSetup is a powerful Windows installation tool integrated into NHV BOOT, designed to simplify operations on modern UEFI-supported devices. In this guide, NHV Boot will show you detailed steps to install Windows 10/11 in UEFI GPT mode using WinNTSetup with superior speed and stability. Follow the instructions below to reinstall your operating system

1. Important Notes

  • WinNTSetup supports installing all Windows versions (XP/7/8/10/11) in both UEFI and Legacy modes
  • This is the optimal solution for installing Windows Lite/Rebuild builds (stripped components) that often fail with the standard Setup.exe installer
  • For laptops with Intel 11th Gen CPUs or newer, you must download and install IRST Drivers to ensure SSD recognition and prevent Blue Screen errors (Inaccessible Boot Device)

2. Install Windows using WinNTSetup

To install Windows in UEFI boot mode, the hard drive must be formatted as GPT and contain two essential partitions: EFI (FAT32 format) and Windows (NTFS format). Open Partition Wizard on the WinPE desktop to delete old partitions or repartition the drive accordingly

Open the partitioning tool. From the main WinPE interface, locate and launch Partition Wizard
Delete old partitions: Right-click on the old Windows partitions (including Drive C and the EFI system partition), then select Delete to remove them

Create an EFI partition: Set Label to EFI, File System to FAT32, Partition Size to 100MB, then click OK
Change Partition Type ID by right-clicking on the newly created EFI partition and selecting Change Partition Type ID
Select EFI System Partition from the list to assign the correct boot identifier
Create Windows partition: Right-click on the unallocated space, select Create, set Label as Windows, and File System as NTFS
Partitioning complete. Verify that the drive contains both EFI and Windows partitions, then click Apply to save changes

Once partitioning is complete, return to the main screen and open WinNTSetup. The tool icon is available on the Desktop or in the PStart menu

At the first line Select location of Windows installation files, click the Search button on the right to start locating the installation package
When the file browser appears, navigate to the folder containing your Windows ISO file, select it, and click Open
Select Partitions: For Boot drive, select the EFI partition (FAT32). For Installation drive, select the Windows partition (NTFS)
Under Options: Select the Windows edition, check drive letter preassignment, and add IRST drivers in the Add Drivers section if you are using a laptop with an Intel Gen 11 CPU or newer

Under Options: A list of Windows editions included in the installer will appear (e.g., Home, Pro, Enterprise…). Click to select the version that suits your needs. Also, check the drive letter preassignment box (as shown by the arrow) to ensure the system automatically assigns the standard drive letter (C:) after installation, preventing partition errors

Under Add Drivers (Important): This is a critical step for Windows to recognize the hard drive on modern devices.

  • For Laptops with Intel Gen 11 CPUs or newer: You must select the path to the IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver. If skipped, the installation may complete, but you will encounter a Blue Screen error (Inaccessible Boot Device) upon reboot due to missing storage drivers
  • For Intel Gen 10 CPUs (or older) and AMD CPUs: You can skip this step, no additional drivers are required
After verifying all settings, click Setup
When the Ready prompt appears, keep the default settings and click OK to start the installation process
Once the process finishes and the completion dialog appears, click Reboot to restart and enter the new Windows setup interface

Important Note: Do not connect to the internet during the initial Windows setup (unplug the LAN cable or skip Wi-Fi). This significantly speeds up the installation process

After the installation is complete and the Desktop appears, proceed to install full Drivers and necessary applications
